Snider's Rustic Inn is located in Thayne, Wyoming, on U.S. Highway 89.
Thayne is one of several communities in Star Valley.
Star Valley begins at the north end with the town of Alpine, at the
mouth of the Snake River Canyon. The Snake River to the east
of
Alpine provides some of the best white-water rafting trips you'll find
in the state, plus great fishing and kayaking expeditions.
The Salt River runs the length of the valley and has many public
fishing accesses. The Palisades Reservoir and the Greys River
on
the back side of the Salt River Range, as well as numerous mountain
lakes and streams, provide additional chances to catch German Brown
trout, native cutthroats and lake trout, as well as rainbow trout.

Besides fishing and whitewater rafting, the Star Valley area offers
many other great outdoor recreational opportunities, including golf,
camping, hiking, hunting in both Wyoming and Idaho, horseback riding,
boating and sight-seeing.
Fall colors are spectacular in Star Valley. Popular winter
sports
are cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, on the Greys River and McCoy
Creek roads.
The Wyoming Fish and Game operate the state elk feedgrounds scattered
throughout western Wyoming. The elk come down from the high
country in late November to areas set aside for them to winter on, with
the Wyoming Fish and Game providing supplemental feed through April.
The closest feedground is 1 mile south of Alpine and 17 miles north of
Thayne on U.S. Highway 89.
The Star Valley area has many interesting places to see.
Intermittent Spring, also called Periodic Spring is 5 miles
east
of Afton in the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
The largest of only three cold-water geysers in the world, this natural
wonder is a must-see in late summer and early fall when its
fluctuations occur at about 15 minutes intervals.
